Colonie Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred at 11:44 p.m. on Sunday night. The incident involved a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Troy-Schenectady Road (State Route 7). Sadly, the pedestrian, identified as Timothy Smith, 62, succumbed to his injuries at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
According to the police, the collision took place near British American Boulevard on Troy-Schenectady Road. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and contacted the authorities. The pedestrian, Mr. Smith, sustained severe injuries and was swiftly transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Colonie EMS. Tragically, he could not survive his injuries.
Colonie Police have clarified that excessive speed and driver impairment were not contributing factors to the crash. They also mentioned that the pedestrian was not using the crosswalk and was in the middle of the block at the time of the incident.
