Wesley Huff, a 36-year-old man, has been arrested in Corpus Christi, TX, after breaking into a home in the Annaville area. The incident occurred on Sunday, November 12, at around 6:14 p.m. The Corpus Christi Police Department received a call reporting a burglary at 4000 River Walk Dr., where officers were dispatched.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the front door of the residence was closed, but a side fence gate was open. They continued to investigate and found a broken window on the side of the house. To their surprise, they also noticed a man walking around inside the property.
As the police surrounded the house, they heard several gunshots from within. Consequently, they established a perimeter around the property. Suddenly, the suspect opened the garage door and attempted to leave the house, but he was unarmed. The officers ordered him to the ground, and he complied, leading to his arrest.
Following the arrest, the police thoroughly searched the home to ensure there were no other victims or individuals involved. Fortunately, no one else was found inside. However, during the incident, a neighbor was struck by stray shrapnel caused by the gunshots. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not life-threatening, and the neighbor received treatment at the scene.
The male suspect, identified as Wesley Huff, was charged with Deadly Conduct-Discharge Firearm (Aggravated Assault), Burglary of a Habitation, and Violation of a Court Order. He was subsequently transported to the City Detention Center for processing.
