In a recent update provided by the Colorado Springs Police Department, details have emerged regarding a homicide that took place on North Murray Boulevard over the weekend. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Brandon Kmetetz from West Palm Beach, Florida. Kmetetz was discovered near the intersection of Eastern Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard.
Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Friday morning. Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel found Kmetetz deceased, with a gunshot wound later confirmed to be the cause of death. The investigation quickly progressed, and later that day, Ontony Hatcher, a 27-year-old resident of Colorado Springs, was identified as the primary suspect. A warrant for Hatcher’s arrest was promptly issued, leading to his voluntary surrender to the El Paso County Jail on November 11th.
Hatcher is currently facing serious charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and aggravated robbery. The tragic death of Mr. Kmetetz marks the 28th homicide investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department. Comparatively, records indicate that by this time last year, there had already been 42 homicides reported.
