A 35-year-old criminal who had previously been banned from the city was apprehended by Pydhonie police for breaking into a widow’s home and sexually assaulting her. The victim, who lives with her mentally unstable brother, was molested while she was sleeping. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of November 10.
According to the police, the complainant works all day and returns home around 10 pm. On November 9, she arrived home late and went to sleep. At around 3 am, she woke up to discover someone touching her inappropriately. When she opened her eyes, she saw the accused, Ganesh Reddy, sitting beside her. In a state of panic, the woman screamed for help, prompting her neighbor to rush to her door. Reddy managed to escape, but the neighbor witnessed him fleeing the scene.
The woman immediately reported the incident to Pydhonie police station, where a case was registered against Reddy for house trespass and outraging the modesty of a woman. During the investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage and discovered that Reddy had arrived in Mumbai’s Surat Street.
Taking swift action, the police set up a trap on November 11 and apprehended Reddy as soon as he arrived. It was revealed that Reddy had recently been banned from the city due to multiple criminal cases against him. In light of his violation of the ban, the police added sections of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) to the charges against him.
Despite being in police custody, Reddy has been uncooperative during the investigation. He has not provided any information regarding how he managed to enter the woman’s house. On Monday, Reddy was brought before the court and remanded in police custody.
It is important to note that the accused’s actions are in direct violation of the externment rules, which prohibit him from entering the city for a minimum of two years. The police are determined to ensure that Reddy faces the consequences of his heinous actions by adding MCOCA sections to his charges.
In conclusion, this incident highlights the vulnerability of women living alone and the importance of taking strict measures to ensure their safety. The police’s swift response and use of CCTV footage were instrumental in apprehending the accused. It is crucial for society to stand against such acts of violence and support the victims in their pursuit of justice..
