20-Year-Old Medical Student Commits Suicide in Mangaluru
A tragic incident occurred in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where a 20-year-old MBBS student at a private medical college took her own life by jumping from the sixth floor of her hostel building. The young woman, identified as Prakruthi Shetty, left behind a note in her room expressing her frustration with life.
The local authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and have initiated an investigation into the matter. Preliminary findings suggest that the girl died by suicide, according to City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal.
This unfortunate incident sheds light on the rising trend of suicides among medical students. Just last month, another first-year MBBS student, Sudhanshi Singh, ended her life by jumping from the third floor of a medical college hostel in Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district. The alarming frequency of such incidents is a cause for concern.
