In Lake City, Florida, the local police department has issued a statement in relation to the arrest of Zacchaeus Beverly, who has been charged with a series of burglaries that occurred earlier this month. The incident took place at the Fire Breather Smoke Shop on October 27th, where officers responded to a reported business burglary. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the front glass door had been shattered and the burglar bars had been removed.
After conducting a thorough search of the premises to look for possible suspects, the business owner was contacted to assist in the investigation of a potential theft. It was confirmed that over $3,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen, not including the damage caused to the door and display cases. The owner of the shop fully cooperated with the officers during the investigation.
According to a report released by the Lake City Police Department, surveillance footage from the store revealed the suspect responsible for the burglary to be Zacchaeus Omega Beverly. This evidence helped in identifying and connecting Beverly to the crime.
In a separate incident on November 4th, officers were dispatched to SE Baya Drive in response to a vehicle burglary. The victim provided officers with a description of the suspect, details about his bike, and the direction in which he was traveling. Officers managed to locate Zacchaeus Omega Beverly, who matched the provided description and was riding a bicycle. However, Beverly managed to evade arrest at that time.
The following day, on November 5th, Lake City Police responded to a report of grand theft on SE Dade Street. The victim, who was acquainted with Zacchaeus Omega Beverly, allowed him to enter the apartment to charge his cell phone. Unfortunately, Beverly took advantage of the situation and allegedly searched the victim’s dresser drawers. When confronted by the victim, Beverly promptly left the scene. Subsequent checks revealed missing items, linking Beverly to the theft.
During routine patrols in the area, officers spotted Zacchaeus Beverly near the location of the crime. After a brief chase, he was apprehended without further incident and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center.
Residents of Lake City are urged to anonymously report any information related to the case to the LCPD TIPS hotline at 386-719-2068 or to Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
