A tragic multi-vehicle accident in Volusia County, Florida resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and injuries to three other individuals on Saturday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of East International Speedway Boulevard and West Parkway.
The crash report states that a Nissan Rogue was traveling eastbound on East International Speedway Boulevard in the inside lane, west of West Parkway. At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was stopped in the eastbound lane of East International Speedway Boulevard, positioned ahead of the Rogue. Additionally, a Jeep Cherokee was stopped in front of the motorcycle.
According to the report, there were two more vehicles involved in the accident. A Jeep Wrangler was stopped ahead of the Cherokee, and a Ford Mustang was stopped in front of the Wrangler.
Tragically, the driver of the Rogue, identified as a 52-year-old woman from St. Augustine, failed to stop for the motorcycle, resulting in a collision with the back of the Harley Davidson. The front of the Rogue then collided with the back of the Cherokee, causing the Cherokee to strike the back of the Wrangler, which was propelled into the back of the Mustang.
The motorcyclist, a 73-year-old man from Middleburg, was transported to the hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. The driver of the Rogue sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver and passenger of the Cherokee were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, the drivers of the Wrangler and Mustang did not sustain any injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash to determine the exact cause and circumstances.
