According to the police investigation, the suspect and the victim of the shooting were arguing on New York Avenue Northeast, near Hecht Avenue Northeast, at around 1:30 a.m. The suspect shot the man during the argument. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police, who also recovered a handgun. The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The shooter, identified as Vann Allen of Southeast D.C., has been arrested and charged with several offenses. According to an investigation conducted by the police, it was determined that the suspect and the victim of the shooting were engaged in an argument on New York Avenue Northeast, in close proximity to Hecht Avenue Northeast, just before 1:30 a.m. The argument escalated and the suspect, in a fit of rage, brandished a firearm and proceeded to shoot the man.
Following the incident, the alleged shooter immediately fled the scene, but was apprehended by law enforcement officers who had responded to the incident. Upon his capture, the police discovered a handgun in his possession.
The identity of the victim remains unknown, but he was promptly transported to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment for his gunshot wounds.
The perpetrator responsible for the shooting has been identified as Vann Allen, a resident of Southeast D.C., as confirmed by the authorities. He has since been arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition.
