During the incident, one man sustained a minor gunshot wound to his buttock, while another suffered critical injuries after being shot by the same perpetrator. The incident took place on November 3, 2023, at 8:20 pm, specifically on the 500 block of North Chevis Street in Frog Capital.
The first victim, Jeremy Dugas, who is 19 years old, received a minor gunshot wound to his buttock. He was promptly treated at a local hospital and later discharged. On the other hand, 18-year-old Nicholas Dupuis suffered critical injuries. After receiving initial treatment in the Acadiana area, he was airlifted to an out-of-state medical facility for specialized care.
Authorities have identified the main suspect as 41-year-old Darrell Dwayne Dugas. Interestingly, Dugas was previously targeted in a shooting attempt on N. Marie Street, leading investigators to believe that the two incidents may be connected. An arrest warrant for Darrell Dugas was issued last week, and this morning (11/12/23), law enforcement officials successfully apprehended him on North LeBlanc Street in Rayne.
