In Monroe, Louisiana, on November 8, 2023, the Monroe Police received a tip from a confidential source regarding a missing 15-year-old juvenile who was believed to be hiding at a residence on Standifer Avenue. Acting on this information, authorities arrived at the home around 5:30 PM to investigate further.
Upon reaching the residence, the officers made contact with the homeowner, identified as 49-year-old Perry Price. They questioned Price about the missing juvenile’s whereabouts, and according to the affidavit, Price confessed that the missing juvenile was indeed inside his home. With this information, the authorities entered the residence.
Inside the residence, the officers found not only the missing juvenile but also two other juveniles. These juveniles attempted to flee the home, but the authorities managed to apprehend them. Furthermore, the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana inside the house. Price allegedly gave the police consent to search the residence, and during the search, the authorities discovered multiple bags of marijuana and rolled marijuana cigarettes.
It was revealed that Price had allowed the missing 15-year-old juvenile to stay at his home despite being aware that the juveniles inside were engaged in narcotics use. Price had taken no action to prevent this behavior. Surprisingly, upon contacting the parents of the three juveniles, it was discovered that none of them knew their children were at Price’s home, nor had they given them permission to be there. One parent even described Price’s home as a “dope house.”
The officers noted that it was not uncommon for juveniles to visit Price’s home to partake in narcotics, as previous investigations had been conducted at the residence. Consequently, Price was arrested and charged with three counts of Encouraging or Contributing to Child Delinquency.
In conclusion, the Monroe Police acted on a tip and successfully located a missing juvenile at Perry Price’s residence. The discovery of marijuana and the lack of parental knowledge or consent led to Price’s arrest on charges related to child delinquency. The case highlights the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting and ensuring the well-being of juveniles in the community..
