Quakertown Man Arrested for Ninth Time on Retail Theft Charges for Stealing Energy Drinks
A Quakertown man, Chase Vorhauer, has been arrested for the ninth time on retail theft charges after he allegedly stole over $300 worth of energy drinks from the Giant Food Store in Hatfield, according to a report by Hatfield Police.
The Incident
On October 12, Hatfield Police were called to the 1500 block of Cowpath Road to investigate a retail theft that took place on September 10. Surveillance footage from the store showed Vorhauer entering the store at 6:12 p.m., placing multiple packs of Monster Energy and Red Bull into a shopping cart, and exiting without making any payment. He was then seen getting into a gray sedan through the rear driver’s side door, which left the area at 6:21 p.m.
Prior Theft Incidents
The store’s security team recognized Vorhauer from previous theft incidents at multiple Giant locations. In fact, investigators revealed that Vorhauer had previously been arrested for stealing from the same store in 2021 and was found guilty of felony conspiracy to commit retail theft. This history of thefts played a crucial role in identifying him as the suspect in this case.
Items Stolen
Vorhauer is accused of stealing a significant amount of energy drinks in the latest incident. The stolen items include four four-packs of Monster Energy, three 12-packs of Monster Energy, five 12-packs of Red Bull, and 10 four-packs of Red Bull. The total value of the stolen drinks amounts to $345.38, as reported by the police.
Legal Proceedings
Charges were filed against Vorhauer on November 2, and he was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Jodi Griffis on the same day. The judge set bail at $500 cash, and Vorhauer remains in custody at the county jail due to a probation detainer. Vorhauer’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 29 at 1 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
Previous Retail Theft Cases
Interestingly, this is not the first time Vorhauer has faced retail theft charges. He was previously arrested for the eighth time in September for an alleged retail theft from Weis Markets in Upper Gwynedd Township. The charges in Hatfield Township suggest that this incident occurred between the time of the charges filed in Upper Gwynedd on September 6 and Vorhauer’s subsequent arrest on September 15. Vorhauer also has an ongoing felony retail theft case in Upper Moreland Township dating back to September 23.
It is important to note that all suspects and defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The information in this article has been compiled using public court records.
