The carjacking case in Mohali was swiftly solved by the police within a span of 7 hours after the crime was reported. Three suspects, identified as Akashdeep Singh, Abhishek Thakur, and Rajvir Singh, all residents of Zirakpur, were apprehended and placed under police remand for six days. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Harsimran Singh Bal, commended the efforts of the police team led by Inspector Naveenpal Singh of Phase-11 police station for successfully connecting the chain of evidence.
The snatched car, as well as the vehicle used in the armed snatching, along with the weapons employed in the crime, were all recovered by the police. The complainant, Sangat Singh, had reported an armed carjacking on November 8, prompting the police to initiate their investigation. The breakthrough in the case came after the interrogation of one of the arrested suspects, Akashdeep, who divulged crucial information leading to the recovery of the weapon.
Inspector Naveenpal Singh of Phase-11 police station expressed satisfaction with the promptness of their actions, highlighting that the accused were apprehended within just 7 hours of the crime being committed. He further revealed that the police had successfully retrieved the stolen Honda City car, registered under Chandigarh, which belonged to Sangat Singh. Additionally, another vehicle used in the criminal act was found in the possession of the suspects.
During the police remand, efforts will be made to extract information about any other similar crimes committed by the accused. The Mohali police are determined to bring to light any additional criminal activities that may be linked to the arrested individuals.
