Several 911 callers reported a person being shot, and when officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they found the victim, William Gray, who had been shot in the head. Unfortunately, medical personnel pronounced him dead on the scene. Surveillance video from a nearby business captured two suspects jaywalking across Las Vegas Boulevard near Utah Avenue. One of the suspects, identified as 42-year-old Shawndell Byrant, was later identified by the police.
The footage showed Byrant and the other suspect approaching the corner of Utah and 3rd, where Gray walked past them.
