A government school teacher was fatally shot by unidentified attackers near Gaya junction railway station in Bihar’s Patna late on Thursday night. The victim, Narendra Kumar, a 44-year-old resident of Gautam Buddha Colony in Gaya, worked as a teacher in a government high school in the neighboring Aurangabad district. He would commute to school by train in the morning and return home in the late evening.
On the evening of the incident, Kumar boarded the Sasaram-Dhanbad Intercity Express, which arrived late at Gaya station. As he exited the train and approached the railway booking counter on the Delha side, the assailants opened fire and quickly fled the scene. The government railway police (GRP) promptly rushed Kumar to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), but unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead. The GRP SHO, SK Dwivedi, confirmed the teacher’s identity by locating documents in his pocket and then informed his family members about the tragic incident.
Currently, the police are awaiting a formal request from the family to register a murder case. Meanwhile, they are diligently reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the culprits responsible for this heinous crime.
