A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday, Nov. 8, as a man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on US 59 at FM 1127. The fatal crash occurred around 10:56 p.m., leaving the driver, identified as Carbajal Valparaiso, deceased at the scene. Valparaiso, believed to be from the Houston area, was ejected from his vehicle during the accident.
Sgt. Gary Wright, the supervisor for the San Jacinto County office of the Texas Department of Public Safety, provided details about the sequence of events leading to the crash. According to Wright, Valparaiso was approximately a mile north of Shepherd, near the location where an explosion had taken place earlier that day. Valparaiso, who was traveling northbound on US 59, failed to stay in his lane. His vehicle veered into the east ditch, prompting him to overcorrect, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.
Tragically, Valparaiso was ejected from his vehicle due to the force of the rollover. Medical professionals pronounced him dead at the accident scene. Unfortunately, due to his location at the border, Wright was unable to provide specific details regarding the type of vehicle Valparaiso was driving or his age.
In a twist of fate, the San Jacinto County office of the Texas Department of Public Safety did not have a unit available on the night of the accident. Consequently, troopers from Polk County had to step in and handle the situation. Wright explained that this was the reason for the delay in obtaining certain information.
Valparaiso’s next of kin have been notified about the devastating incident. The loss of a loved one is always heart-wrenching, and the community mourns alongside them during this difficult time.
