Police are appealing to the public for assistance in solving the murder of Tyrone King, a Birmingham Water Works employee, which occurred in 2021. The incident took place on April 9, 2021, when authorities responded to a car accident report at 1600 Montclair Road, as reported by the Birmingham Police Department. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a Birmingham Water Works vehicle lodged in the shrubbery of the road’s median with two individuals inside.
Tragically, the driver, Tyrone King, was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Thankfully, the passenger, also a Water Works employee, remained unharmed. It is believed that both men were driving through a nearby Walmart parking lot when another vehicle pulled up alongside them and unleashed a hail of gunfire. Consequently, King lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a parked car before coming to a stop. This is where the authorities ultimately located the vehicle.
Investigators suspect that Tyrone King was specifically targeted, although the motive behind the attack remains unclear at present. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The suspect’s vehicle has been identified as a white Ford Fusion, distinguishable by its drive-off tag and a dent on the bottom of the driver-side door.
