Virginia State Police assisted the Greensville Sheriff’s Department in responding to a disturbance at Simmon’s Travel Center in Emporia. A man, identified as Lashone Antonio Butler, was urinating in the roadway, climbing on vehicles, and exhibiting signs of mental issues. Butler fled in a Kia Optima and led officers on a pursuit before crashing on Ivor Road in the Town of Ivor. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. On November 10th at approximately 7:20 a.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a call from the Greensville Sheriff’s Department about a disturbance at Simmon’s Travel Center in Emporia, Virginia. According to the complaint, a male individual was seen urinating in the roadway, climbing on vehicles, and displaying signs of mental distress. The person responsible was identified as 48-year-old Lashone Antonio Butler.
Butler attempted to flee on foot but eventually got into a 2011 Kia Optima and drove away. The Greensville Sheriff’s Department initiated a pursuit, which spanned across Emporia, Route 58, and Route 35. The chase came to an end on Ivor Road in the Town of Ivor when Butler crashed the vehicle. Unfortunately, Butler was ejected from the car during the crash and was the sole occupant. Despite efforts from deputies and state police to save his life, Butler did not survive.
