Tragic Death of 4-Year-Old Girl Shot by Younger Brother in Miami-Dade County
A devastating incident occurred in Miami-Dade County, Florida, resulting in the tragic death of a 4-year-old girl. The girl’s mother, Krystal Banegas, confirmed the heartbreaking news on a GoFundMe page established to cover funeral expenses.
According to Banegas, her little brother accidentally shot her in the forehead on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Despite her immense bravery and fighting spirit, the young girl couldn’t overcome her injuries. Described as a vibrant and joyful person, she loved flashing her beautiful smile and caring for her siblings.
The grieving mother identified her beloved daughter as Josalyn. The incident took place at a residence located in the unincorporated West Little River area of the county, specifically in the 8100 block of Northwest 21st Avenue, as confirmed by the Miami-Dade police.
Subsequently, Quavanta Ennels, a 25-year-old felon and the boyfriend of Josalyn’s mother, was arrested on the same night. Ennels faces charges of being in possession of a firearm as a felon. Law enforcement sources revealed that Ennels had left a Taurus 9 mm pistol in a backpack in the bedroom where the tragic incident occurred.
Tragically, Josalyn’s 3-year-old brother discovered the illegally-purchased firearm and unintentionally shot her in the head. Following the incident, emergency medical services promptly rushed the girl to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where she was initially described as “fighting for her life.”
While the exact date and time of Josalyn’s passing have not been officially confirmed by relatives or the police, a GoFundMe page was created to assist the family with funeral expenses. Those who wish to contribute and support the family during this heartbreaking time can donate by visiting the GoFundMe page linked here.
