In Ludhiana, two young individuals allegedly assaulted two police officers who were on patrol duty near the Dhuri Line area. Despite managing to escape, the officers were able to identify the assailants and subsequently filed a case against them. The two suspects, named Sagar and Lovish, were booked based on the complaint of Constable Lovepreet Singh.
According to Constable Lovepreet, he and ASI Gurdev Ram were passing by a bakery when they noticed two young men standing outside a fast food outlet and making inappropriate comments about women. Concerned for the safety of the women, the officers intervened and prevented the harassment. However, this action angered the accused, who proceeded to physically assault the officers before fleeing the scene. The suspects managed to escape when a crowd gathered at the spot.
Following the incident, ASI Gurcharan Singh, who is in charge of the Atam Park police post, stated that a case has been registered against Sagar and Lovish under Sections 186, 341, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sections pertain to obstructing a public servant, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common object.
