On the early morning of November 6th, 2023, specifically at 1:47 a.m., a deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s office was performing a patrol on South Main Street in the Village of Perry. During the patrol, the deputy noticed a black four-door sedan making a turn onto Washington Boulevard without any taillights on.
In response to this traffic violation, the deputy conducted a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop on South Federal Street near Washington Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Angela M. Jones, a 50-year-old resident of Perry, NY. Upon checking Jones’ driver’s license, it was discovered that she only had a non-driver ID which had been revoked.
At approximately 1:55 a.m., Jones was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Unlicensed Operator, and No/Inadequate Taillights. She was processed at the scene and released with an appearance ticket, requiring her to appear in the Perry Village Court at a later date.
On the same date, November 6th, 2023, but at around 3:49 a.m., another deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s office was stationed on State Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw. During this time, the deputy noticed a grey four-door sport utility vehicle traveling westbound with its driver’s side headlight not functioning.
Consequently, a vehicle and traffic enforcement stop was conducted near Smallwood Road, and the driver, Tammy J. Watson, a 51-year-old resident of Warsaw, NY, was identified. A check of Watson’s driver’s license revealed that her driving privileges in New York had been revoked, despite possessing a valid Arizona driver’s license.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., Watson was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree and No/Inadequate Headlights. Similar to Jones, Watson was processed at the scene and released with an appearance ticket, requiring her to appear in the Warsaw Town Court at a later date.
Moving back to November 4, 2023, at around 2:17 a.m., yet another deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Route 39 in the Town of Castile due to a speed violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Hunter Akin, a 23-year-old resident of Perry, NY.
During the interaction with Akin, the deputy observed alleged signs of alcohol impairment. As a result, Akin was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, which he performed poorly on. Following this, Akin was transported to the Perry Police Department, where he consented to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC). The test indicated that Akin had a BAC of .08% or higher.
Consequently, Akin was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWI/ .08% BAC or Higher, and other traffic infractions. Similar to Jones and Watson, Akin was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Castile Town Court on November 20, 2023..
