One Suspect in Custody in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Couple in Providence
Police have arrested one individual in connection with the shooting that resulted in the death of a couple in Providence last month. Major David Lapatin confirmed to 12 News that a raid was conducted at a residence on Post Road in Warwick. While several individuals were removed from the house, only one person was taken into custody and transported to the Providence Police Department.
The incident occurred on October 28th when authorities responded to a report of gunshots on Hathaway Street at around 12:05 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman in the front seat of a parked pickup truck. The victims have been identified as 29-year-old Brian Fernandez and 30-year-old Sreylakh Ros.
Lapatin stated that multiple shots were fired before the suspects fled the scene. However, police do not believe it was a drive-by shooting.
Victims Were Parents to Four Children
The victims, who hailed from Pawtucket, were parents to four children. This tragic loss has raised concerns, but there are various organizations, family services, and victim advocates available to ensure that the family and children receive the necessary support and resources during this difficult time, as stated by Perez, a spokesperson for the police department. Currently, the children are in the care of one of the victim’s mothers.
