Baltimore, Maryland – U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis Sentences Adrian Nathaniel Haynes to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Production of Child Pornography
In a landmark decision, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis has sentenced Adrian Nathaniel Haynes, a 24-year-old resident of Oxon Hill, Maryland, to 25 years in federal prison for his involvement in the production of child pornography. This severe punishment aims to send a strong message about the gravity of such offenses and to protect vulnerable individuals from further harm. In addition to the prison term, Haynes will also face 25 years of supervised release, during which he will be closely monitored to ensure the safety of the community.
Furthermore, Judge Xinis ruled that upon his release from prison, Haynes must register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). This requirement will oblige Haynes to disclose his sex offender status to the relevant authorities in the areas where he resides, works, and studies, ensuring that communities are aware of his presence and can take appropriate precautions.
The sentencing of Haynes was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, Erek L. Barron, alongside Special Agent in Charge Thomas J. Sobocinski of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office, and Chief Malik Aziz of the Prince George’s County Police Department. This collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement agencies demonstrates their commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of society and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
According to court documents and evidence presented during the sentencing hearing, the case against Haynes began when Victim 1 reported his illicit activities to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) on April 1, 2019. Victim 1 disclosed that Haynes, operating under the Instagram username “darealrico_,” had coerced him into sending sexually explicit images and videos. Haynes not only demanded the production of such material but also threatened Victim 1 with the release of previously produced content if he did not comply with his demands.
Upon investigation, FBI Special Agents discovered that Haynes had registered the “darealrico_” Instagram account on November 6, 2018, using a phone number that had been previously linked to him. The majority of Haynes’ communications through this account during the relevant period were traced back to his residence in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
In order to gather more evidence, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the contents of the “darealrico_” Instagram account. Upon examination, FBI agents discovered numerous communications between Haynes and Victim 1, as well as 16 other Instagram users who identified themselves as minors. Haynes used a similar modus operandi with each victim, coercing them into producing child sexual abuse material by confirming their age and then requesting explicit content.
The successful prosecution of this case is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the FBI and the Prince George’s County Police Department. United States Attorney Erek L. Barron expressed his gratitude to Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Hagan, who skillfully prosecuted the federal case. Their combined efforts have ensured that justice has been served and that communities can feel safer.
