Three individuals have been taken into custody by authorities in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Riverside County over four years ago. The incident took place on March 3, 2019, when a group of four suspects allegedly opened fire on a house located in the 6400 block of Nidever Avenue in Riverside. The Riverside Police Department released a statement confirming the arrests.
During the shooting, two individuals inside the residence were hit by gunfire. One of the victims sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital before being released. The other victim, identified as Izaac Colunga, suffered critical injuries and is now paralyzed from the neck down, living with quadriplegia.
The case was later handed over to the Homicide Cold Case Unit of the Riverside PD. The unit worked diligently to develop leads, eventually leading to the identification of the three suspects. The suspects have been identified as Dereck Anthony Wood and Raymond Floyd Cervin, both 26 years old and from Riverside, and Donte Justice Reese, 26, from Las Vegas.
Unfortunately, a fourth suspect involved in the shooting, Lawrence House, passed away in 2021 due to natural causes. Despite this, Wood, Cervin, and Reese were apprehended over the course of several months leading up to the announcement. They now face charges including two counts of attempted murder and shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the investigation to come forward. Detectives Karla Beler and Dane Wilkinson can be contacted at 915-353-7138 and 951-353-7137, respectively.
