A second teenager, aged 15, has been apprehended by the San Jose Police Department on November 2 for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and her baby in late October. This arrest follows the detention of another 15-year-old boy on October 28, who was also implicated in the fatal crash. Both suspects have been remanded to Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall subsequent to their apprehensions, as stated in a brief statement by the San Jose police.
The tragic incident occurred on October 24 at approximately 8:42 p.m. At the intersection of Winfield Boulevard and Blossom Hill Road, a stolen 2013 white Hyundai sedan, carrying two individuals, collided with the victim’s 2008 black Nissan sedan. Immediately after the collision, the two suspects fled the scene, leaving the victim, identified as 21-year-old April Marie Zoglauer from San Jose, severely injured. Zoglauer was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
Despite the devastating loss, medical professionals were able to perform an emergency surgery to deliver Zoglauer’s unborn child. Tragically, the infant succumbed to their injuries the following day.
