A tragic incident occurred near Hoskote, Bengaluru, where a police constable named Kishore D allegedly strangled his wife, Prathiba, to death out of jealousy. Kishore, who was stationed at the Chamarajanagar East police station in Ramasamudra, Chamarajanagar, traveled a significant distance of approximately 230 km from Chamarajanagar town to his wife’s parental house near Hoskote.
The motive behind this horrific act seems to be Kishore’s suspicion of his wife’s character. He repeatedly called her around 150 times, but she did not answer any of his distressing calls. According to a report by the Times of India, Prathiba had recently given birth to a baby boy at her parental home in Kalathur village, near Hoskote. The tension between the couple escalated when Kishore engaged in a heated argument with Prathiba the previous evening. Prathiba’s mother, witnessing the distress caused by Kishore’s calls, advised her daughter not to answer them.
On the morning of November 6, Kishore arrived at the house and consumed insecticide before locking himself and his wife in a room. In a fit of rage, he used a dupatta to strangle Prathiba to death. Prathiba’s mother, Venkatalakshmamma, who was present during this horrific incident, tried to intervene but found the door locked. After persistent knocking, Kishore finally opened the door after 15 minutes and chillingly confessed, “I killed her, I killed her,” before fleeing the scene.
Prathiba was a BE computer science graduate and had married Kishore on November 13, 2022. The distressing tale takes another complex turn as Prathiba’s father, Subramani, accuses Kishore’s mother of harassing his daughter over dowry. This accusation adds an additional layer of complexity to the tragic event.
The local authorities have registered a case of murder against Kishore, who is currently in critical condition at a hospital. This incident highlights the importance of addressing issues of jealousy, suspicion, and domestic violence in relationships. The consequences of such emotions can be devastating and can lead to irreversible actions, causing immense pain and suffering to the victims and their families. It serves as a reminder to society to promote healthy relationships and seek help when facing difficulties rather than resorting to violence..
