Tragic Crash in Miami Leaves Teen Dead and Another Critically Injured
In a devastating incident, a teenager lost their life while another sustained critical injuries after a car crash in Miami during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The accident resulted in the temporary closure of a section of the road in southwest Miami-Dade county. According to a report by 7News Miami, the crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. when a car crashed into and flipped over the pillars of an overpass.
Miami-Dade police officers had received reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area, which was later identified as an Audi, as confirmed by department spokesperson Alvaro Zabaleta. When the police activated their lights, the 15-year-old boy who was driving and the 14-year-old girl who was his passenger attempted to flee the scene at high speed.
Unfortunately, the young driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with one of the concrete pillars beneath the overpass on the turnpike, causing the car to flip onto its side. Zabaleta expressed the community’s grief, stating, “This affects the entire community knowing that an adolescent lost his life instead of being in school today.”
The family of the 15-year-old driver has been notified of his tragic death, and the 14-year-old passenger has been airlifted to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for her critical injuries.
According to CBS Miami, investigators believe that the teenagers were either dropping off or visiting acquaintances in the area. It remains unclear whether the teenage boy had a driving permit and why they were out at such a late hour, as stated by the police.
