Bodycam Footage Reveals Shocking Discovery in Arkansas Closet
Recently released bodycam footage from Arkansas shows a disturbing incident where police stumbled upon a hidden door in a closet, leading to a shocking discovery. The video, recorded on Thursday, November 2, captures the moment when a man wearing overalls, identified as Jon Thompson, guides the officers to the closet.
With Thompson’s assistance, the police locate a secret door concealed within the closet. Thompson opens the door, revealing a small room where they find a young child. To access the hidden room, Thompson had to move some items, highlighting the deliberate effort to keep the child hidden.
Fortunately, the 5-year-old girl was unharmed and immediately taken into the custody of the Department of Human Services. Detective Keith Lindley, who was present during the discovery, described the child as emotional and scared, emphasizing that the girl had been instructed by Thompson to remain silent and conceal her presence.
Following the incident, Jon Thompson, a resident of Tontitown, Arkansas, was arrested the next day and now faces multiple criminal charges. These charges include interference with custody, first-degree false imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a minor, as well as possession of body armor and drug paraphernalia, according to The Washington County Jail Intake.
Reports suggest that Tontitown police were assisting the Department of Human Services in taking custody of the child when they encountered Thompson. Initially, Thompson claimed to have legal custody of the child, refused to cooperate, and denied the presence of the 5-year-old in the residence. However, he eventually confessed and led the police to the hidden closet where they heard noises coming from.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Thompson had concealed the child behind a securely nailed board in the wall, which he had hidden by moving some boxes. Photographs from the scene reveal a small compartment with exposed insulation where the child had been kept.
In a surprising twist, it was revealed that at the time of his arrest, Thompson was already out on bond for unrelated charges in Benton County, including a methamphetamine charge. This raises concerns about his criminal history and potential motivations behind the incident.
Thompson was booked at the Washington County Jail on November 3 and was released on November 6 after posting a $5,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 4, where more details about the case are expected to emerge, shedding light on the troubling circumstances surrounding this incident.
