70-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Pointing Rifle at Another Man in El Paso County
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An elderly man, identified as 70-year-old Lavar T. Mower, was apprehended in the Westway area of El Paso County by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest followed an incident where Mower allegedly threatened another man by pointing a rifle directly at him.
On November 2, Sheriff’s deputies promptly responded to a call reporting a person brandishing a firearm in the 7600 block of De Alva. Upon arrival, they interviewed the victim, who recounted the terrifying encounter. The victim stated that while he was outside his residence, an individual, later identified as Lavar T. Mower, arrived and menacingly aimed a rifle at him.
The victim expressed that he feared for his life during this confrontation, speculating that the hostile behavior of Mower was motivated by a personal connection they both shared with someone else.
Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement officers made contact with Lavar T. Mower. A subsequent search warrant led to the recovery of the weapon believed to have been used by Mower to intimidate the victim, according to the deputies.
Consequently, Mower was taken into custody and subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. After being processed, he was transported to the El Paso County Jail. A bail amount of $10,000 was set for his release.
