An Elmira teenager is currently under arrest after the police reported that he stabbed two individuals on Tuesday, one of whom sustained severe injuries. According to the Elmira Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Southside area of 400 Pleasant St. following a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, neighbors informed the officers that their son had stabbed two people and that the victims sought refuge in a nearby residence.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jacob Olson from Elmira, voluntarily surrendered himself to the authorities and was subsequently taken into custody. The officers immediately provided initial medical assistance to the two victims and coordinated with the Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance to ensure they received additional care.
The investigation revealed that the stabbing took place inside a vehicle operated by one of the victims. Olson launched an attack on them, resulting in serious injuries. Both victims were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment, with one currently in critical condition while the other remains stable.
As a result of the investigation, Olson has been charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, a felony offense. The police have determined that this was not a random act and have assured the public that there is no ongoing danger.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the Elmira Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They can contact the department at 607-737-5626 or 607-271-HALT. Alternatively, information can be submitted anonymously through Operation HALT via the website forms.cityofelmira.net/OperationHalt.
